A Bespoke Design Process,

Just for You

Commissioning a wedding hat is a personal and enjoyable experience. Clients are invited to bring their outfit to a private studio appointment, where a range of hat styles and headpieces can be tried on and explored in a relaxed setting.

This hands-on approach allows you to see how different shapes sit, how scale affects your look, and which styles feel most natural and flattering. Once a direction is chosen, colour charts are used to perfectly match or harmonise with your outfit, ensuring the final piece feels cohesive rather than overpowering.

Careful consideration is also given to trimmings — from feathers and flowers to sculptural details and subtle embellishments — with expert guidance on what will best suit both your outfit and the occasion.

A Thoughtful Finish for a Memorable Day

A wedding hat should never feel like an afterthought. When designed as part of your outfit, it becomes a natural extension of your look — framing the face, adding elegance, and giving you confidence throughout the celebration.

Heather’s approach to wedding millinery is rooted in craftsmanship, proportion, and personal style. Every bespoke piece is created with care and attention to detail, ensuring it feels special not only on the day itself, but for years to come.

Wedding hats are available for clients across Chipping Sodbury, Bristol, Bath, Cheltenham, and the wider UK.

RECENT COMMISSIONS

Diana:
Mother of the Bride and Groom Hat in Blush and Burnt Orange

Diana is a classic mother of the bride hat, shown here in soft blush and burnt orange natural sinamay. Her gentle, up-sweeping brim frames the face without casting a shadow across it, which is why she is so often chosen by mothers of the bride and mothers of the groom.

The two contrasting colours are chosen to pick out the tones and shades within the pattern of your outfit, or Diana can be made in a single block colour to match it exactly. Like every hat in the wedding collection, she is hand blocked and sewn to order in the Chipping Sodbury studio, with colour charts used at a private appointment so she is built around your outfit rather than picked off a shelf.

Victorian Silk Bridal Riding Hat:
A Handstitched Alternative to the Tiara

The Victorian silk bridal riding hat is made for brides who want something a little more than a tiara. Heather hand stitches natural silk over a custom-made base, so the shape and finish are created specifically for you.

The silk can be taken from the bride’s own fabric, or chosen by Heather to complement it, and the height of the crown can be varied to suit you. Riding hats like this were hugely popular in the Victorian era and have never gone out of style, which is why a silk riding hat still feels both traditional and distinctive on a modern bride.

Swirls and Bow:
Statement Wedding Hat

Swirls and Bow pairs sculptural, freeform swirl detailing with a single bow, a design language that works equally well for a Mother of the Bride wanting real presence or a guest after a lighter statement piece.

The swirl work is shaped entirely by hand rather than blocked to a fixed mould, the same freeform technique Heather uses across her couture range.

Heather trained in the UK and in France and is a member of the British Millinery Association. To see Diana or the Victorian silk riding hat in person, or to discuss a commission, book a private appointment at the studio.
